What Is It?
~~~~~~~~~~~
This is an adaptation of the age-old game "The Towers of Hanoi", where
you are presented with a pyramid of round plates, sitting atop one of three
posts. In the traditional game, the object is to move this pyramid from one
end of the board to the other(eg: from the LEFT post to the RIGHT post).
It sounds simple enough, until you find out the two rules involved:
1: You can only move one plate at a time.
2: You can NEVER place a LARGER plate on top of a SMALLER plate.
Well, this may not sound like too much of a restriction, until you've
tried playing a game or two!
The traditional game is played with three posts and 5 round plates, but
I have given the player the option of playing with as few as three plates(if
they're a BEGINNER player), or as many as seven plates(if they like a real
challenge!)
The object of the traditional game is to move the pyramid in as FEW moves
as possible, but I added a background TIMER as well, so now it's also better
to make those FEW moves in as little time as possible!
I also decided to offer a few VARIATIONS on the game, like a version in
which you need to move the pyramid from the first post to the second post,
and THEN from the second post to the third post. There are five variations
in all, each with their own separate high scores list, making for a total of
150 different high scores on file!
Full documentation, error checking, and LOTS of COLOR and IBM GRAPHICS
were used in this game, making it necessary for the user to be using an IBM-
ANSI Terminal program, but don't fret as the file also makes sure the user
is CAPABLE of playing the game, BEFORE taking them into the game!
Lastly, winners of the game will be presented with an animated WINNER
Graphical display screen, as a reward for their hard work!
How Do I Install It?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is an ULTRA SIMPLE installation:
1: Place the "Towers" command file ANYWHERE you wish on your system, and then
add it as an ARexx Pfile.
2: You're done!
Once the first player has entered the game, a second file "Towers.Highs"
will have been created in the same path as the "Towers" command file. This
second file holds the 150 high scores used by this game.
If you have any problems, suggestions, criticisms, etc., please feel
free to voice them. I never turn down GOOD constructuve criticism! hehe
